Ahh yess... the (nearly) all black outfit. Most stylists would tell you to avoid wearing all black if you can. Not me. I say go for it! It's easy, timeless and if it looks good on you, why not? You might find though, that if your coloring is more on the cooler side, that black will tend to look more goth that glam on you. Navy blue and dark grey are your color alternatives. With an edgier outfit like today's casual look, I'd go for a grey leather jacket for example.
P.S. Is this suede and leather bomber jacket spectacular?!

It took a while but it eventually grew on me and now I'm obsessed with this song! I have to say though, that I still think that the video is really distracting and takes away from the song rather than enhances it. But hey, that's just my opinion... :) Enjoy!
My only real explanation for today's look is that I am in dire need of a vacation. A real vacation, not a city break, not a long weekend, but a real full-on 10-days full of vacation clichés... You know: +25 degree sunny weather, feet in the sand, eating 'al fresco', drinks with umbrella's in them, finally time to read a proper book... shoot, you can even throw in that annoying guy with the guitar. You know, the one who really shouldn't have quit his day job or more likely, should have considered getting one in the first place? Yes him, I'll take him, I'll take it ALL with the biggest, most foolish, blissful grin on my face.

The perfect maxi-dress...
To be worn with perfect necklaces...
and perfect sandals...

I've got a fairly neutral pallete for you today, but more important than the colors or prints, I want you to take a look at the shape of the pants. This shape is perfect for the banana or apple shape body type. The built in belt cinches the waist, while the fullness of the pleating at the pockets give the impression of curves around the hip area. Warning!!: If you have a pear shaped body type, this is not for you. It will only add more bulk to an area you're wanting to balance out. Go for flat fronted trousers instead, preferably with a side fastening to give you a sleeker silhouette.

I think that this quote is pretty much the best summary of simple guidelines to living authentically that I seen in a long while...
It reminds me of a book I read many, many, MANY (Man I'm old!) years ago called "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz. The book, described a practical guide to personal freedom, is based on the following 4 basic principles:
It reminds me of a book I read many, many, MANY (Man I'm old!) years ago called "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz. The book, described a practical guide to personal freedom, is based on the following 4 basic principles:
1. Be impeccable with your word
2. Don't take anything personally.
3. Don't make assumptions
4. Always do your best.
Just as the quote a above it's pretty simple stuff, when you see it summed up like this. Often life just seems too complicated to live it by a set of 4 basic principles. We inevitably encounter a few murky gray area's, that aren't as straight forward to navigate and we make decisions that may not turn out to be the right ones... You live and learn... Which is why I rather view these agreements as ideals; something to work toward, not something that I have to get right every.single.time. I don't torture myself like that any more. who wants to perfect anyway?! I just need to get as close as I can and I'm happy. :)
Have a great weekend!!
Today's casual friday outfit is really all about easy summer dressing. Perfect for a day of shopping or just running erannds. Cream pants, gray t-shirt, fab jewelry, no fuss.

When The Man Repeller speaks I do not always follow... But when she styles a pair of denim overalls like this...
...I sit up and take notice. This actually looks kinda sexy!! Which is quite remarkable considering that, up until this morning (when I saw this pic) dungarees were neatly filed in the "under 5" and "agriculturally employed" categories in my book.
Here are some other pics I found to feed my new-found appreciation for denim overalls.
This last pic is actually from Ralph Lauren's Spring 2010 collection, but I found a pair new in at Mango for just €49,95! Get 'em here!!

It's been a while since I've done a dressy look for the office, so here you go. :)
